For the first time, a series of sketches have been revealed hidden underneath one of Leonardo Da Vinci's most famous paintings. Scientific analysis of "The Virgin of the Rocks" uncovered the original composition Leonardo started and then abandoned, before he painted the final product that has been admired for centuries. "In the abandoned composition both figures are positioned higher up, while the angel, facing out, is looking down on the Infant Christ with what appears to be a much tighter embrace," London's National Gallery explained in a press release.
