By looking extremely different than others, people are always going to be judgemental, rude, passively avoidant, and ableist - but there are also people who are the complete opposite. I’ve learned being so different somehow often removes the barrier between me and other people, which can either make them react strongly negative from the shock, or it can create a very authentic and thoughtful space between myself and another. I use to have extreme anxiety as a child due to my hyper awareness of how others viewed and treated me, but as I got older I became more grounded within myself.
