Dr Bradford Parkinson, Professor James Spilker, Jr, Hugo FrueHauf, and Richard Schwartz were all awarded the 2019 prize. Sadly Professor James Spilker passed away in September. His wife Anna received his award today. GPS has revolutionised modern society. It has enabled anyone with a smartphone to pinpoint their exact location on earth at any time. It is used in a range of applications including aviation safety, banking, shipping, logistics and travel directions. Since 2013 the prize has been awarded on alternate years and has become the world’s most prestigious engineering accolade. It celebrates ground breaking innovations in engineering and it is hoped to inspire the next generation of engineers.」12月4日 19時53分
