Photo by @daisygilardini | The colony off the coast of Snow Hill Island is the northernmost emperor penguin colony in Antarctica, and for this reason it’s the most visited. Emperor penguins are unique among species of Antarctic penguins in that they reproduce during the Southern fall and winter, on pack ice.
By spring, when all other penguin species return to land to reproduce, emperor penguins are almost ready to leave the colony to return to the sea.
