And when you do, some will say to be unapologetically you (as long as it is ubiquitous enough to fit into their comfort), to be free (only if it suits their idea of what that is), to stand strong (unless it is in opposition to them), to not shrink (so long as your light doesn’t rub their insecurities), to set boundaries (with everyone else except them), to take risks (but only if the outcome is their definition of success), to embrace your own voice (as long as it’s agreeable and/or acceptable with theirs), and to be true to who you are (in a way that they prefer). Just remember that some is not all. And that your spirit, who is your most loyal friend, will not let you be anyone else but you, so why not get on with it right now. For every heart that follows its yawp, shines a light of remembrance for other hearts to lean into that yawp too. And when we’re focused on being who we are, not being someone else, not who someone else is, but being who we are, it takes away the distraction and weight from any other business that is not our own.
