今日の和菓子 : 春の便り 「東風（こち）吹かば匂ひおこせよ梅の花　主なしとて春を忘るな」
北野天満宮に祀られている菅原道真が太宰府に左遷される際に読んだ有名な歌。
そんな道真が愛した梅がたくさん観られる、年に一度の梅祭りにちなんで作った和菓子です。

Today’s Wagashi：Spring Letter

Spring in Japan always reminds us of cherry blossom Sakura nonetheless we can also savor the beauty of plum blossom/Ume before it flourish. Kitano Tenmangu shrine, enshrining Sugawara no Michizane (a court noble in Heian period), is one of the infamous places for plum blosson in Kyoto.
Michizane bid farewell to his plum tree before going into exile. Feeling overwhelmed of having to leave home, it banished from his thought to recite "Oh plum blossoms, when the east wind blows, let it send your fragrance. Although your master is gone, do not forget the spring." from a famous poem. This confectionery visualizes the plum blossoms in celebrating the plum festival at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
