スペインのシウラナに来てから10日ほどが経った。平山ユージさんより誘っていただき、彼のLa Rambla の挑戦を陰ながらサポートしつつ、のびのびと登っている。つい先日51歳を迎えた平山さんは、自身のこれまでの経験を活かしながら、真摯にルートと向き合っている。一筋縄ではいかないその挑戦はまさに限界値にあるのだけど、逃げずにただそこにいて、細かな要素を見極めていくさまは彼の一番の強さだと感じる。

Already 10days past since we arrived at Siurana in Spain. Yuji Hirayama invited me for this trip. I am enjoying onsiting freely while supporting his challenge to climb La Rambla. He just became 51 years old but making use of his climbing experience to the route and facing sincerely to it. I can see that the challenge is really on his limit. But he just stands there, identify small details and getting close with his rhythm. So inspiring!

僕はと言えば、1年間ほどトラッドクライミングに専念していたこともあり、久しぶりの石灰岩に馴染んでいくところから始まった。シウラナの岩壁を見渡し、その日一番輝いて見えるルートに取り付いていく、オンサイトを中心としたクライミングの日々。自分の繊細な感性と、岩が語りかけてくることをキャッチし続ける注意深さが必要であり、とことん楽しんでいながらも真剣そのもの。日々リセットされ、新たなルートが迎えてくれるからこそ、新鮮なエネルギーが湧き起こってくる。残り数日も、シウラナの岩を堪能しようと思う。

On my side, I have been climbing on trad route for one year, so starting slowly to fit with limestone. Look around and try something attractive route based by onsiting. I need to be careful to listen what I want to climb and also which route want me to climb. I am really enjoying every day! Always new routes welcome me and I feel new energy every day.
