Photo by @クリス・バーカード | Planning an Alberta trip is a long process. Sometimes we’re exploring the topography on Google Earth, looking at trail maps and videos, or just studying photographs trying to examine everything we can to find a place of interest. It’s difficult to pick just one place that stood out to me. But Mount Assiniboine, also unofficially known as "the Matterhorn of the Rockies," is one of them. Located on the Great Divide, Mount Assiniboine is the highest peak in the Southern Continental Ranges of the Canadian Rockies. This place is different from my home state of California. It has this rugged and raw aesthetic that has been forever ingrained into my memory.
