I send out love to everyone, these are deeply trying times. It is also #WomensHistoryMonth and I hope that a change of focus for a few minutes is a welcome distraction. This month, #LoveOurGirls is featuring the National Domestic Workers Alliance (@DomesticWorkers) and Ai-jen Poo (@aijenp) it’s inspiring co-founder. Nannies, house cleaners and home care workers have some of the hardest, least secure jobs in the nation. These domestic workers are majority women, mostly immigrants, and women of color. Physically demanding and emotionally draining, many work in isolation and behind closed doors; removed from the sight and mind of most of the public. And while domestic workers were deliberately left out of the Fair Labor Standards Act, NDWA is making great strides in advocating for the stability, benefits, and fair pay for these critical but often marginalized members of the workforce.
