I saw the rising number of cases in NYC, how quickly it is spreading across the US, the death toll all over the world. Meanwhile, in my little room, I watched Tiger King and attempted to learn the Savage dance, while Mike baked cookies with the girls downstairs. The juxtaposition between what is happening out there and what is happening in here is pretty stark. I get that. I really don’t want to minimize the seriousness of what’s going on. Or create the Instagram-friendly version of this. I’m just trying to bring a bit of humor and hope to a pretty dire situation. I want to offer my condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one to COVID-19. I want to thank all the healthcare workers, the grocery store workers, the delivery people, and all the other essential workers who are keeping our society running so that the rest of us can sit on our ass and watch Joe Exotic sing country songs about Carole Baskin feeding her husband to a bunch of tigers.
