It’s not a passing fancy, nor did it start with the James Cameron movie. I wrote an entire paper about the “ship of dreams” when I was nine. I even sketched a picture of the sinking boat for the cover of my report, which maybe seems a little dark for a 9-year-old, but hey, I grew up in an apocalyptic religion so disaster seemed normal to me 🤷🏻‍♀️.. . Today, April 13th, Titanic was near midway through her maiden voyage. It was a glorious day, everyone aboard enjoying the gorgeous ship and its smooth passage. They had no concept of the chaos to come tomorrow night. . These photos are from my visit to Cobh (Queenstown), Ireland - the last port before making the Atlantic transit. . 1️⃣ The White Star ticket office and now museum (worth a visit) @titanicexperiencecobh . 2️⃣ Heartbreak Pier in Cobh (behind the ticket office) the 150 year old pier where over 1 million immigrants and Titanic passengers crossed to their awaiting boats. It’s named so because most never saw Ireland, their homeland ever again. . 3️⃣ Hubs and I trying to take a pic with the last bit of Irish land passengers would ever see. . 4️⃣ Commemorative plaque in Cobh .
