Can you spot the hidden messages in this landscape? 🔍

Here, artist Jasper Francis Cropsey depicts Sidney Plains, an area in south-central New York state. While at first glance, this work seems like a simple natural landscape, you can look closely to notice signs of humans encroaching on the wilderness: the fenced in orchards, grazing fields for cows and sheep, and the white farmhouse on the far right. Such expansion was, at the time, seen as "progress" and was associated with the advancement of modern technology, indicated by the presence of telegraph poles and a distant train.
