Mental Health Awareness should be recognized and prioritized ALL. YEAR. LONG. Our mental health HAS to be a priority in each of of our lives. While working out and physical activity are a crucial part of staying healthy, you know what else is? Rest. I will be the fist to admit that as a professional athlete, I was terrible at rest days and truth be told, as a retired athlete, I think I’m even worse at them. I am constantly pushing my body, and while I do truly love this, I need to be better at recognizing the importance of letting my body, both physically and mentally, rest and be still. I’ve been using my @aftershokz not only for my workouts, but also for my rest days, when I pull my yoga mat into the Colorado sunshine and do restorative yoga and meditation. Adding this to my weekly schedule has made a world of difference for me physically and emotionally, not to mention that savasna’s with a 110 pound dog trying to lick your face off can’t help but bring a smile to your face.
