Michigan’s agriculture economy is made up of some 10 million farmable acres and is second, next to California, in its diverse range of growable crops which range from fruit to staple products like corn and wheat. This selection of photos is primarily around wheat, from farm to mill at the Star of the West heritage company. The complexities in creating refined flour were fascinating to see first hand; a maze of machinery that sorts wheat, cleans it, grinds it down and fills it into bags for shipping. Big thank you to the kind folks there, as well as the TNC, for the access into their facilities and introductions to a few of the local farmers they work with.
