It’s not always the big competitions and big wins that we remember at the end of the day. This short program at 2011 Skate Canada was the first clean short we ever did in competition. It took us 15 months of competing to figure out how to get it done. The previous year, and the month before this competition, we were playing around with and trying every jump in our toolbox, but for some reason, when it came time for a short program, I always found a way to miss it. With the triple sal, we finally got the short program we needed to build our confidence. @エリック・ラドフォード and I were always aware and sensitive to everyone’s critics about us. The comments that we didn’t match, that we weren’t good enough and that we didn’t have the right vehicles, rang loudly in our minds. But when I look back on this performance, one of my favourite pieces of choreography we did, I see unison, precision and transitions galore. I have to wonder why we ever let other people’s voices effect us so deeply. The weight that was lifted off our shoulders after finally get the short program monkey off our backs was tremendous. We didn’t win, we weren’t even close, but it sure felt like a golden moment 💫
