“I think a lot of these images are effective because I’m just as angry as the people in them.” We spoke to Mark Clennon (@mark.c), the 32-year-old photographer who took this instantly iconic picture of Black Lives Matter protestors outside Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue. “You look at the flag behind the glass, and it’s like it’s being held hostage inside Trump Tower. But when I look at it more, it’s like, ‘Is this flag being held hostage, or is it finding solace and protection and comfort within Trump Tower?’ Because America allowed Trump to exist and thrive in the first place.” At the link in our bio, Clennon tells @the_internest the stories behind some of his most powerful photographs.
