With the summer Sun in full effect, you might find yourself wishing that you had the ability to secrete your own sunscreen, like the waxy monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa sauvagii). The South American native inhabits the Chaco forest, where it spends much of its time sunbathing on branches in the treetop. To protect itself from drying out, it secretes a waxy substance that acts like a self-made sunscreen! Flexible hind-legs help it to spread the “sunscreen” on its back, ensuring its whole body is coated with a protective layer.
