Photo by @amivitale Philip, a Samburu guide from a nearby camp, greets a tower of reticulated giraffes in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya. The Samburu are traditionally nomadic pastoralists, and the community here has been deeply involved in creating and managing the conservancy, an 850,000-acre area helping to preserve the diversity of wildlife found here. The conservancy helps the Samburu combine their knowledge with modern science to more sustainably manage their rangeland.
