The lowest point in North American can be the highlight of your visit to Death Valley #NationalPark in #California. At more than 280 feet below sea level, some areas of the park are a surreal landscape of salt flats and cracked mud. Strange geometric shapes and jagged lines form on the flat plain, as if drawn by a person driven crazy by the heat. Experiencing a brutal summer heat wave, this place presents a challenge for anything not prepared for the high temperatures and almost no moisture. Visitors to this stunning park should bring plenty of water and limit their time in the sun. Waiting for the long evening shadows can bring dramatic views and slightly cooler air.
