フィラデルフィア美術館のインスタグラム(philamuseum) - 7月30日 23時40分

Today’s celebration of Eid al-Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, represents one’s devotion to God starting with morning prayers and readings from the Qur’an. In this copy, sacred words and messages are elegantly calligraphed and the pages are decorated with floral patterns and gold. The calligrapher’s precise and artful handwork is itself an act of devotion to his craft and the word of God. Calligraphy adorns more than just books but also textiles, metalwork, ceramics and architecture—from the secular to the religious.
