He knew he wanted to follow in his parents footsteps. Now, Lozano has spent seven years working as a civil engineer in construction, and three years with his own business, @ecg_renovations. He still finds the job satisfying, especially here in New York where he has found opportunity, success and joy. But people often misunderstand his work. There’s a tendency to focus on the construction process, but for Lozano that’s just the very last stage. Before any brick is laid, “there is a lot of time and effort involved in design, feasibility, budgeting, coordination and project managing”, Lozano explains. So, when Covid-19 began, it wasn’t only the construction part of Lozano’s business that had to be changed, “we had to reinvent the way we work to create a free and safe environment for our staff and subcontractors.” Despite the economic impact, Lozano remains hopeful about the future.
