I’m also the founder of the @badguild a global platform and curated collective of independent Black artists, makers, and designers. Most people know me for designing custom rugs and recently for my ceramic sculptures. I’m taking over @designsponge page to share my activism around decolonizing design and how I connect to my ancestors through my clay practice. ——————————— As an unapologetically Black woman, my work is not “ethnic”, it’s deeply rooted in the patterns and techniques behind handmade textiles such as Kente, Adire, Kuba and Bogalon fabrics. The craft and creativity within my culture is deeper than one word. A culture filled with a legacy of masterpieces that we ALL draw inspiration from.
