I once knew somebody who was addicted to my light, who’s face lit up everytime they spoke to me, who asked to see me everyday for the rest of time and said that I’m the most positive, happiest and kindest person they’ve ever met. They loved that I wore bright colours, spoke my mind and did everything possible to help others - including them. I was their happy place and something they looked forward to. But as my light shone bright, theirs couldn’t match mine. The brighter and happier I got, the darker they became, feeling like a failure and that they were not good enough in comparison. So I happily shared my light, helped, encouraged and comforted them and gradually they shone bright again for some moments but always fell back into darkness. The more of my light that I gave the less of me was left and the darker they became until they were entirely dependant on me constantly giving my all for me to receive nothing in return but darkness. Eventually their light went out entirely and now the light that I have is all mine once more; glowing, healthy, happy and selfless as always. The moral behind this my darlings is that you should never make others responsible for your shine, it must come from within by finding happiness in yourself as a person before involving others. Never allow anyone to dim your light and never be afraid to shine as bright as possible - the world needs our love, light and positivity. Some people are takers, feeding off of others and draining them until nothing is left - sadly the brighter you shine in life the more visible you’ll be from within the darkness to these takers, but you must stand strong and always know you’re worth.
