Photo by Muhammad Fadli @mfimages A few centuries ago this tiny archipelago in eastern Indonesia was the world’s only source of nutmeg. Along with Ternate and Tidore, Banda is part of the original Spice Islands located in the Moluccas. The Europeans sailed the world to find them and fought for control. Seen in this picture is the famous Gunung Api volcano, the first thing a new visitor might notice when sailing toward Banda.
