Jesus, you look incredible but I bet men find you intimidating as hell!” It caught me by surprise and made me laugh, what a sweet but equally random thing to say to a stranger? I guess I’m so used to being me and living my life the way that I choose and love that I don’t necessarily concern myself with what other people think of me nor consider how they perceive me - when you’re at ease with yourself it shouldn’t matter what others think. Sure, it may not be everyday that you see a redheaded tattoo muscle model bouncing down the street in neon gymwear smiling to herself, but actually, for me it is! Anything can become entirely normal the more times that you do it. I politely asked how I could be deemed as intimidating towards anybody and he said that my confidence and self assertion isn’t something that most people have, but it’s refreshing to see hence why he approached me. I think it takes a strong person to have a meeting of minds and assurance with somebody who possesses a strong soul. We may meet people because of physical attraction but then insecurity arises from unnecessary actions and the involvement of other people which ultimately breaks down any trust and contentment, as well as a lack of self esteem. To break the cycle we have to become stronger than any insecurity, to strive to not feel insecure about yourself let alone anyone else. It may seem shallow at first glance, but it’s wholeheartedly necessary in achieving self worth - to no longer fear losing anybody in this world because you are who you are and do what you can do - if 100% isn’t good enough for somebody else then it just isn’t meant to be, don’t take it personally and move on. It’s about finding somebody on your level and having a meeting of the mind, body and soul, not just finding somebody attractive.
