Photo by @deeptiasthana The old tradition of breeding and herding camels and using them as carriers became obsolete with new modes of transportation. In Rajasthan camels were called the ships of the desert, as most of the trading was once done through camels. Now they are mostly used for tourism, which remains one of the primary professions for the villagers. Modern education isn't given much emphasis here. Children start getting into the tourism business at a very young age, taking visitors for rides around the dunes and even conducting village tours.
