I remember the days when the biggest controversy in yoga was whether or not you should grab your big toe in Trikonasana. Times have changed. But in all the ways that count the heart of yoga is still the same. You might come to this practice because the asana looks cool, but you’ll keep practicing years later because of how yoga makes you feel ok the inside. And, in case you’re wondering, sometimes it can useful to hold onto your big toe and sometimes it’s not so useful. Find what works for you, and for your body, in each practice, in each breath. Let your practice move beyond dogma and rules into a spontaneous aliveness that expresses the depths of who you are.
