Southern sea otters like Brook spend most of their time searching for food as they must consume between 20-25% of their body weight every day in order to maintain a normal body temperature. To make searching for prey easier, these otters can dive to 300 feet and remain submerged for up to 90 seconds, capturing critters like sea urchins with their clawed paws before returning to the surface to feed.
