Over the years the people I’m close to have changed as I myself have grown and evolved. I used to chastise myself for this. Why am I letting this friendship slip away? Is there something wrong with me? Should I be trying harder? But the reality is that not every friendship is meant to last for life, and in fact it’s pretty rare to find someone who stays on a path which aligns with yours forever. It’s ok to lose friends, it’s ok to gain new ones, it’s ok to reconnect after years of absence and it’s ok to only find your people in adulthood.
