Volume up to hear Viktor give an alert.... there was a doggie in the next yard and Viktor is giving his alert call.

We very seldom see or hear our foxes give this bark like sound. In fact, faced with the danger of an aggressive dog, Viktor is the only Russian fox that gave this alert. Ishy got out of dodge and was hiding, Mikhail wagged his tail, and Maksa- well she started to play. This dog was about 30 feet away, but behind two fences. When it comes to the Russian domesticated foxes, they have lost some of those survival instincts through the domestication for tameness process. This makes how we design their enclosures all the more important. We have to be extra careful there is no way an animal can get to their paws when they choose to try to play with the predator.... unlike Ishy, who ran and hide, none of the Russians hid from this predator.

We always make sure the foxes are in a secure inside building at night. Having enclosures for day and night increases our building costs and needed space- so you can see through our IG stories that we are building both an indoor and outdoor enclosure for the new Russian babies.
