Together, we can reach a goal of planting 100 million trees by 2021. It depends on the tree, however; one ton of CO2 can be absorbed by a typical hardwood tree over the course of its lifetime. According to the Arbor Day Foundation, “ a mature tree will absorb more than 48 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere .” #PlantYourChange by itself can not solve the climate crisis on its own. However, carbon offsetting through reforestation (tree planting), is one scalable strategy to help tackle climate change.
