Time-lapse video by @babaktafreshi / An impressive display of lenticular clouds appeared right after sunset, with rays of light still reaching these high stationary clouds. We were having dinner in northern Iceland with my photo workshop group in September 2017 when the light suddenly changed from a gray, overcast sky to this magic. We returned to a cold meal much later!
Some lenticulars are reported as UFOs due to their flying saucer shape and bright reflection of the setting sun, moonlight, or city lights. Pilots try not to fly near these dense clouds to avoid turbulence due to a sudden change of air pressure.
