#GordonParks, who was born #onthisday in 1912, was a self-taught photographer who studied the Depression-era photographs of Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans. In the 1940s, Parks became "Life" magazine’s first African American staff photographer. He also published “Flash Photography,” one of the first comprehensive books devoted to this subject.
