An unprecedented year for all beings with many hunkered down and sheltered in place. Changing, adjusting, testing, squeezing, learning, surviving. Themes. Lemons, lemonade, gratitude, innovation, creativity and reflections. More themes. I unexpectedly learned how to administer, flush, clean and change medication dispensed through an IV every eight hours for a loved one. And that that itself put most else into perspective with priorities at the forefront and the small and petty by the wayside. Reflections in plenty this season to serve as a roadmap for how I choose to navigate ahead. Simplifying, sweeping, remodeling, expanse and bolded lines, a shifted gear and focus. Creative spaces have evolved and altered especially in the why and for what. And today is the eve of my child’s birthday. All my heart is in the merriment of preparations. There are a wealth of other things stirring too, our dearest of friends who are overworked in hospitals, the logistics of life, personal matters, collective matters, the world inside a phone, this pandemic, the holidays and so forth. Sometimes I have to step out and away. And focus on the one thing. And today that one thing is love with its gaze set towards joy, joy in this home, this family, our health and this miracle child who I have to privilege to steward and sow into each and every day.
