About Last Night...’s Post 😶 I want to clarify a few things while reiterating @bishopclimbers and Inyo County. First and foremost: the county is under a three week stay-at-home order. Campgrounds are closed, indoor services shut down, and ICU beds increasingly occupied. Stay home if you can. If you come climbing, please 😷😷 and socially distance and consider transmission risks outside of the boulders themselves.

That all being said, obviously I am here. My decision to travel before the lockdown made sense to me at the time, and I can only encourage others to make safe decisions for themselves. At this point I choose to stay at ‘home’, housed 🏠 in Bishop through the end of January. I choose to be open about this because I think it’s important to talk about protection as much as abstinence. I’m also willing to accept any appropriate criticism. My presence can be viewed as hypocritical or irresponsible or selfish or all of the above. That makes sense; I apologize for the cognitive dissonance. But this is where I stand.

I mostly want to keep talking about my continuously-developing passion: communication! Having conversations about respect, sharing space, and creating inclusive environments is difficult. Recounting these conversations on the internet is even more so. Details and nuances are lost in third party interpretations.

But Instagram, like real life, shouldn’t just be about spreading positivity. It should also involve talking about the negativity, the awkwardness, the shitty interactions - including my own. I strive to be friendly, set good examples, and act as a role model but I’m also sometimes a chilly b*** who forgets to scrub her tick marks. I’m a human being with bad days. I can only be upfront about that and take ownership of whatever good or bad decision I am making in the moment. Call me out. I won’t bite... too hard.
