We made the decision to respect the current Stay At Home order here in California even though there are millions of people currently traveling for the holidays. This seems to be a controversial topic and I know almost everyone has been affected by the pandemic this year. I’m always extremely conscious of what I do and what I share, and promoting travel right now (especially because we would have been flying in and out of Los Angeles) didn’t feel like the right thing to do. If I have the power to potentially save someone’s life by staying home, or hopefully inspiring even one other person to do the same, then to me, that’s worth more than a trip to Tahiti. A lot of people asked me yesterday how to become a successful photographer. Each situation is different, but for me, following my morals and intuition, and being okay with turning down jobs that don’t align with my values, even if they want to pay me a lot of money, has definitely been a huge part of what’s gotten me here. Each day we all make choices that can have a positive or negative impact on the people and places around us.
