Photo by Robbie Shone @shonephoto / During twilight a single pyramid stands out at Meroë in Sudan, the royal necropolis of the southern capital of the Kingdom of Kush, near Bejrawia. The steep-sided pyramids were built over the burial chambers of the rulers. These pyramids were infamously plundered by Italian explorer Giuseppe Ferlini in 1834.
