In the House chamber, aides piled up furniture to block the doors, while other staff members were told to evacuate their offices, but found they couldn’t leave the buildings safely.⠀ ⠀ Rioters, dressed in MAGA hats and emboldened by encouragement from the president, swarmed the Capitol as they sought to block the ratification of Biden’s win.
