Photo by @akasharabut / Happy Valentine's Day from Ms. Shirley of Central City, New Orleans. Today is also the eve of Lundi Gras. A major holiday weekend and a very special night here in New Orleans. Since Mardi Gras parades have been officially cancelled, locals across the city have taken the spirit of Mardi Gras and harnessed it into transforming their homes into house-floats. Ms. Shirley's block adopted the theme of Alice and Wonderland. Many of her family members including herself have been Queens for various Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs, Ms. Shirley's birthday is also on February 15th and every year she throws "The Queen Block Party" on the Sunday of Bacchus Parade. It was quite intuitive for Ms. Shirley to decorate her house in favor of the Queen of Hearts. #mardigras2021
