For the past few years Valentine's Day culture, often referred to as 'the lovers' day' by Afghans, has slowly found its way into streets of Kabul. In the last 20 years, Mina and an entire generation of largely urban Afghans have grown up with all the basic liberties that the Taliban had erased during the rulings in the 90s. Now they are gripped by fear that all those rights they've gained could be at risk.
