Pretty much 8 months since my Achilles tear and the journey to return to competitive athletics has hit another block. After a really positive start to the rehab a follow up MRI that was supposed to give me the OK to move into spikes actually showed large amounts of fluid and a growing bursa.
On Monday I’ll be having surgery on my left foot to shave the bone and remove the bursa. It was my only option to give myself a fighting chance to make it back.
It’s not ideal, my recovery time is for this surgery realistically means I will not be back running soon enough to give myself a shot at qualifying for Commonwealths, Europeans or Worlds and rules me out of another indoor season 😢
I never imagined a “minor” injury would lead to so much time being unable to train at the level I’d like but the plan hasn’t changed and I’ll be back rehabbing as soon as I’m allowed 😇
