The Montreal-born and LA-based artist, creates narrations that consist of different micro-scenes, resulting in a work that tells several stories. Inspired by “Theatrum Mundi,” or the theatre of the everyday world, and a more recent inspiration of water, she creates controlled chaos: mermaids swimming through paintings, a man struggling in the water, storms on the way, and the usual passersby. On her scene construction, Phenix says, “It leads me to think about humans, the everyday, how we’re like the actors of everything happening in our lives,” she says. “The theater has a script that you’re supposed to follow.
