The recent post by my friend Jim McHugh (@westernave) brought an image to mind that I took in Saudi Arabia in 1976, while I accompanied the former Chancellor of West Germany Helmut Schmidt on a state visit. My favorite image from the trip was not of politicians or royalty, but of the stalwart Saudi bodyguards of King Khalid, resting for a moment before the motorcade arrived.
