村上隆さんのインスタグラム写真 - (村上隆Instagram)「Early in the design process of my new Tan Tan Bo painting from the DOB series, currently on view at the Perrotin @perrotin booth at Art Basel @artbasel , I played with AI. The gallery made the drafts generated by that process into a video. I'm posting that video and some images from the process as well. I had a very short deadline and had received a request that the new work should incorporate some brand new, heretofore unseen ideas. When I was struggling to motivate myself, my assistant made a lot of image variations with AI with "Tan Tan Bo" as a prompt, and put them all up on the board: We were all extremely intrigued and excited. The design was completed in no time (though it still took two months, which is only short compared to how it would usually take years to barely complete such a work), and we were also utterly motivated for the painting process all the way to completion. Of my recent works, I am quite confident about how this one turned out. However, the evolution of AI has been exceedingly fast, and when I look back now, the images generated at that time are already very primitive, I’m sad to say.
