I guess I'll never know how much was motherhood and how much was lockdown as the two were so intertwined, but all I know is, I came out of lockdown and I didn't recognise myself. I wanted the old Ashley back. I loved my son but I missed the old Ashley. And the guilt of that was suffocating. It felt like there was no finding myself again. And when I said I was struggling, lots of people said things such as: "if you think this is hard wait until..." And they'd say something negative. Those negative comments nearly sent me over the edge, I swear. I needed to know it would get better because honestly, it getting any worse felt unsurvivable. Well, those people were wrong because it got soooo much better. I share this because if you're struggling at the moment, I just want to say it gets so much better. Don't let those comments get to you. Wait until every week gets better and better. I never thought seeing Cocomelon characters would bring me so much joy but it's because it makes Alf happy and that's what makes my heart sing. He was soooo excited to meet them (they were outside of the store at Hamley's). They hugged and high fived him and held his hand for the photos and it's all he's talked about all day! Also getting to take Ada on a carousel for the first time (swipe to the end). 🥹❤️ And getting to finally watch movies, well only the beginning at the moment. But still! I'd swap my old weekends for these any day. I mean, I still miss bits of our old life. Getting to eat a meal together and slowly and do things you want to do ... But I wouldn't swap any of it. I read this thing that when flamingos have babies they lose their pink colour. They say having babies is so intense and so much of their food is used for their chicks. I love this. I like to think that's what my journey has been like: losing my pink. Some people call it matrasense. And now it's coming back more colourful than it's ever been. 🦩 So I guess, what I'm saying is, just you wait for it to be so much better. And if someone tells you're their struggling, let them know it gets better, THEY'LL get better. Not worse! ❤️🙏」7月17日 4時22分
