Mela was a like a sister, so full of life and loved by all she touched. We grew up together as kids. She was strong. Cancer found her and none of us knew till her final days. Even through those tough days she smiled between breaths and never gave up. To assume that life is fair is a mistake. It isn't, nor is it meant to be. We are here in this life for a short moment and then we move on to our next. Melaea lived every moment to its fullest. Even in struggle she smiled, a great reminder. So as we send her off on her next journey we also smile. Some tears here and there more for our loss as we continue on without such a bright and humour filled light. But for her we are happy. She is now dancing amongst angels. Missing someone we've lost is unavoidable but staying in a place of sadness for too long serves no purpose. She has moved on to a place without pain or suffering. We honour her memory by recalling great stories and sharing great memories. We chose to support each other with joy and strength. The tides of pain and loss are fleeting and covered by a quest we have to live in joy. To honour those we have lost from a place of happiness.
