I’ve been struggling with what to write about what is happening in Israel. I have written and rewritten so many things that I’m not even sure what makes sense anymore. But I do know this. Over the last 48 hours, we have all watched footage of innocent civilian women, children and senior citizens being killed, kidnapped and paraded around by Hamas. There is no justification for these brutal acts. 260 innocent people were killed at a concert for peace. Can you imagine that happening here and people justifying it by pointing to policies they don’t like from the US government? You can be critical of Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians and also condemn the actions of Hamas. Again, these are innocent women, children and elderly, many taken from their homes, brutally attacked and if not killed, currently being held hostage. The footage is out there because Hamas wants you to see what they’ve done. I’m not going to pressure anyone to post publicly, but please reach out to your Jewish friends and see if they are okay. I thank everyone who DMed with me privately and knew this was weighing on me even though it took me some time to gather my thoughts. I want to add that I don't equate Hamas with the Palestinian people just like I don't equate the Israeli people with the Israeli government. I wish for all people to be free and treated humanely. I pray for peace and I believe the majority of us, whatever our religion, race, or ethnicity, pray for that as well.」10月9日 22時37分
