Brian signed with Clive Davis’ Arista Records for this album that featured traditional Christmas songs, two Beach Boys remakes, and two originals, the title track with lyrics by Bernie Taupin and “Christmasey” with lyrics by Jimmy Webb. Said Brian: “We wanted to make a new, updated version of my songs with experimental sounds. Using guitars and electric pianos and synthesizers and making them sound different by triple-tracking them. Background vocals, we’d record each part four times. We would do octaves, fifths, fourths and thirds.
