@alessandra_sanguinetti's Some Say Ice will be showing in a new solo show at the Magnum Gallery in Paris from November 7 - December 23 🧊
The exhibition presents a selection of images from Sanguinetti’s fifth book, Some Say Ice, an eerie and timeless depiction of Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
Sanguinetti first came across Black River Falls while reading Michael Lesy’s Wisconsin Death Trip and describes the encounter with the lost generations of this rural town in the Midwest as the moment she first acknowledged her mortality and an essential motivation behind her early interest in photography.
In the epilogue to Some Say Ice, she writes. “Soon after this, I started photographing everything and everyone in my life, to keep all of us from disappearing.”
