村上隆さんのインスタグラム写真 - (村上隆Instagram)「Tonari no Murata @tonari_no_murata is a ceramics store that exhibits and offers ceramic artist Shin Murata’s @muratashinwolf works for sale. It is operated jointly by Shin and Fusako Murata @egifusako with Kaikai Kiki in Okazaki, Kyoto, but we haven’t been able to open our doors this year up until now. This was because when Murata held a solo exhibition at Kuroda Touen, @ginza_kurodatouen a long-established pottery gallery in Ginza, in conjunction with the publication of a book of his works, so many fans came to see the show and we ended up with orders for thousands of pieces. Murata said it would take well into 2024 to fulfill the orders, so we had to increase the number of staff and reorganize the workshop in order to somehow finish them by the end of this year. Things got so hectic with the production that we couldn’t even think about opening the store. They worked without a single day off this year to produce the several thousand ordered pieces and finally delivered the complete order in the beginning of October. The artist himself and the entire staff were truly relieved, and so was I. To make a fresh start, the Muratas have decided to open the store for two days, on November 25 (Sat) and 26 (Sun). Last year, Murata made pottery without a break for the publication of his book, and this year, he produced works on order; in a sense, his proficiency as a potter has improved by an order of magnitude. Please come and see the results for yourself. I am sure that Shin and Fusako Murata are looking forward to seeing their customers in person for the first time in a long while.
